Meet Dr. Zachery Stephenson
Dr. Zachery Stephenson has been practicing in Brunswick County since 2022. Dr. Stephenson graduated from the University of Pikeville – Kentucky College of Optometry in May of 2022. He completed his undergraduate studies at North Carolina State University where he obtained a BS degree in Human Biology with a minor in business administration.
His passion for optometry started in his hometown, Benson, NC, where he was introduced to the field at a young age by other local optometrists. After his didactic training, Dr. Stephenson underwent three rotations across the southeast. He was trained by some of the best Ophthalmologists and Optometrist in the country, with a focus on glaucoma, vitreoretinal disease, and preventive primary eye care. Here in Brunswick County, he provides comprehensive visual care in addition to full scope management of ocular disease, infection, inflammation, and trauma. Dr. Stephenson is licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina. He is an active member of the North Carolina Optometric Society and American Optometric Association.
Outside of Optometry, Dr. Stephenson enjoys his time on the golf course, playing ice hockey, and spending time with his friends and family.

Meet Dr. Sarah Smith
Dr. Sarah Smith is a native of Florence, South Carolina. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from Clemson University before completing her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Kentucky College of Optometry. Dr. Smith completed clinical rotations in Atlanta, Wilmington, and throughout Kentucky, gaining experience in a wide range of ocular conditions and patient care settings.
Outside of the office, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time outdoors, running (mostly for the free T-shirts), cooking, and reading. She is excited to serve patients in the community and is passionate about providing thorough, compassionate eye care for patients of all ages.

Meet Dr. S. Scott Haire
Dr. Haire is a native of Mocksville, NC. He did his undergraduate at UNC-Greensboro, majoring in Biology. He then moved on to graduate from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 1986. After practicing in North Carolina until 1993, he moved to Kentucky to practice and get his Masters in Theology at Asbury Theological Seminary until 1998.
Dr. Haire served as a missionary in Brazil and southeast Kentucky from 1998-2004. From 2005 to present he has practiced optometry as well as still investing much time to missionary work. He joined Vision Square Eye Care in April of 2019.
Dr. Haire currently resides at Oak Island. He has 6 children ages 5-33.
